So Chris Christie and Sarah Palin are out. Now it’s Romney and the rest according to today’s newspapers (remember those?) And I tend to agree owing to the Wm. F. Buckley Rule: “Nominate the most conservative candidate who is electable.” But me thinks the media sees ANY GOP candidate as what used to be called a “Tomato Can.” It’s a term much older than I am but I’m also trying to resurrect “solid” as a common term for approval of something.
“Tomato Can” is also an opponent designed to inflate the record of what is considered a more formidable opponent. Sort of like when Alabama plays Kent State. Not to pick on Alabama because all big time football programs do it. But in this case, the media thinks that with their help, the fix is in and President Mom Jeans can beat “The Fighting Mormon”.
